CENTER – The Alamosa High School girls soccer team is back to its winning ways after two straight wins.

The Mean Moose defeated Pagosa Springs 2-1 on the road on Thursday and they followed that up with a 4-0 win over Bayfield Saturday at Center High Schools’ field.

“They played excellent today and put the ball in the back of the net,” said Alamosa coach Kelly Wubben. “So I’m super proud of my girls.”

The start of the game was delayed for a little more than 90 minutes because of lightning. But once it started, it didn’t take long for the Mean Moose to get on the scoreboard as Ginger Rockcastle scored off a Jayden Wubben assist in the sixth minute.

Wubben got a goal of her own in the 26^th minute with Maran Formisano getting the assist and the Mean Moose led 2-0 at halftime.

Jayden Wubben got her second goal in the 55^th minute with Edith Wilner getting the assist. Wubben wrapped up the hat trick in the 75^th minute on an unassisted goal.

The Mean Moose outshot the Wolverines 13-10. Goalkeeper Kylie Cantu recorded her third shutout of the year and had 10 saves.

Alamosa (5-2, 2-1) will look to avenge their only league loss of the season on Friday as the Mean Moose travel to ninth-ranked Montezuma-Cortez.

“We have our players back, so that should be a much better game,” coach Wubben said. “We know who to mark up on and we’ll have a full squad. So we’re ready.”
