SAN LUIS VALLEY — In a gesture of community support and kindness, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated 28 pallets of food items to the Care and Share food bank in Alamosa, along with various food pantries throughout the San Luis Valley.

This donation will be distributed this week and into the next, reaching multiple locations including Del Norte, Monte Vista, Adams State University, La Jara, and more.

The delivery includes a wide range of staple goods such as pasta, potatoes, peanut butter, pancake mix, pudding, dish soap, spaghetti sauce, and more — each item selected to meet the immediate nutritional and practical needs of those facing hardship in the region.
According to Heather Douglas, Alamosa Stake Relief Society President, "We love the San Luis Valley community and constantly seek opportunities to support and uplift those who call it home.  Our welfare program operates on a global scale, and we are thrilled to bring that support here locally, helping those who need it most.  We seek to care for those in need, promote self-reliance, and strengthen our communities as we follow the example of Jesus Christ."
The church’s local members regularly volunteer with Care and Share, as well as other organizations, providing much-needed assistance to the community. The collective efforts of the church and its members are a testament to their enduring commitment to charitable service and community solidarity.
