Alamosa’s Heredia named All-State in boys volleyball

ALAMOSA – Alamosa High School student Eryc Heredia was named to the Colorado High School Activities Association All-State boys volleyball team last Monday.

Heredia, who played for Pueblo South, was a first team selection. The Colts were the Class 4A state runners-up this season. They won 23 matches and lost seven.

He was also the South-Central League’s Co-Player of the Year.

Heredia was the Colts’ setter. His statistics were unavailable.

He was the manager for the Alamosa girls volleyball team. He will be headed to Mount Mercy (Iowa) College this fall to play men’s volleyball.

Two SLV football players to take part in All-State games

ALAMOSA – Two graduating football players will compete in small school All-State games at the end of the month and in early June.

Sargent High School’s Lucas Garcia will play in the 8-man All-State Game on May 31 at Gilpin County Stadium in Black Hawk. Game time is at 2 p.m.

Garcia led the Farmers to a 3-6 record in 2024 and excelled on both sides of the ball.

His statistics were unavailable.

He will play for the South team.

Sierra Grande High School’s Aron Ojeda has been selected to play in the 6-man Colorado-Kansas All-State Game, which takes place June 7 in Greensburg, Kan.

Ojeda will play for the Colorado South team.

Ojeda was the Panthers’ quarterback and he led the team to a 9-1 record. They won the Southwest League and advanced to the second round of the 6-man state playoffs.

Ojeda completed 106 out of 155 passes for 2,002 yards and 44 touchdowns in 2024. He also ran for 322 yards on 51 carries and scored two touchdowns.
