MONTE VISTA – The Annual Eric Wolff Invitational took place Friday, beginning at Monte Vista High School, going across the Monte Vista Golf Course, and finishing at Harvey Sullivan Field.
A total of 108 boys and 85 girls ran in this year’s meet.
The boys team championship was won by Dolores, while Centauri was the girls champion.
Pagosa Springs’ Rylan Ash was the boys’ individual champion in 16:55.45, while Monte Vista’s Shae Romero won the girls race in 19:42.46.
Centauri
The Falcons were fourth in the boys race with 79 points. They were led by Lincoln Bagwell who was second in 17:09.36, Ethan Martinez who was 22nd in 19:16.96, Rhett Taylor who was 23rd in 19:17.00, and Gavin Graber who was 37th in 20:01.10.
Also running for the Centauri boys were Joey Torres who was 66th in 21:59.92, Liam Sowards who was 69th in 22:30.91, Wheeler Larson who was 75th in 22:38.67, and Rylun Polkowske who was 81st in 23:08.83.
The Centauri girls scored 37 points and were led by Mckenzie Torres who was fifth in 21:20.24, Genesi Morris who was sixth in 21:23.48, Bailey Graber who was 11th in 21:41.56, and Lyndie Sowards who was 27th in 23:14.59.
Other Falcon girls included Daelyn Jackson who was 32nd in 23:42.51, Sienna Taylor who was 37th in 23:55.36, Brooklyn Shawcroft who was 45th in 24:42.07, Alyvia Norton who was 52nd in 25:12.86, Harper Russell who was 54th in 25:53.56, Britney Robins who was 58th in 26:00.31, Jeana Dunn who was 62nd in 26:24.21, Beijah Sowards who was 66th in 27:09.54, and Juliana Rendon who was 67th in 27:22.62.
Del Norte
Del Norte finished seventh in the boys race with 90 points. Leading the Tigers were Cruz Matta who was ninth in 18:07.41, Jax Lester who was 25th in 19:20.84, Landon Crowder who was 27th in 19:26.77, and Zach Daniel who was 35th in 19:53.52.
Also running for the Tigers were Jose Pinon who was 44th in 20:21.51, Corbin Horrocks who was 49th In 20:32.75, and Justin Ast who was 79th in 23:05.96.
The Del Norte girls finished fifth with 60 points. Leading the way were Scarlet Maxwell who was second in 19:59.57, Indie Howe who was 12th in 21:47.32, Faith Crowder who was 30th in 23:24.78, and Ella Cowett who was 34th in 23:46.31.
Also running for the Tigers was Brianna Kaufman-Brigham who was 36th in 23:51.38.
Alamosa
The Mean Moose tied for 12th in the boys race with 253 points. They were led by Andy Hernandez who was 60th in 21:18.76, Ryan Lucero who was 70th in 22:31.57, Matthew Hollingsworth who was 78th in 23:03.25, and Merrik Lock who was 107th in 32:01.55.
Alamosa was seventh in the girls race with 107 points. The Mean Moose were led by Camryn Zook who was 31st in 23:25.24, Maren Formisano who was 33rd in 23:43.80, Gizelle Meraz who was 43rd in 24:28.23, and Catherine Tomas who was 65th in 26:59.28.
Other Alamosa girls runners included Paityn Semore who was 69th in 28:05.32, and Isabelle Estrada who was 78th in 31:55.99.
Centennial
The Rams placed 11th in the boys race with 251 points. They were led by Noah Bosch who was 68th in 22:30.53, Josiah Rael who was 77th in 23:02.73, Jeremy Rael who was 86th in 23:44.62, and Andres Payne who was 90th in 24:34.71.
Other Centennial runners included Alazay Sanchez who was 95th in 25:18.28, Miguel Salcido who was 99th in 25:59.30, and Sebastian Monroy-Gonzalez who was 106th in 31:16.55.
Centennial didn’t enter a girls team.
Antonito
The Trojans tied for 12th in the boys competition with 253 points. They were led by Dean Garcia who was 38th in 20:05.50, Jeremiah Gray who was 88th in 23:55.92, Anthony Llanez who was 96th in 25:18.34, and Steven Velasquez who was 104th in 27:07.61.
The Antonito girls took eighth with 163 points and were led by Faith Medellin who was 29th in 23:22.68, Eliana Garcia who was 74th in 29:36.77, Anali Garcia who was 79th in 32:54.47, and Evolet Garcia who was 82nd in 35:56.63.
Also running for the Trojans was Jada Gutierrez who was 84th in 40:23.34.
Center
The Vikings were 14th in the boys meet with 261 points. Leading the way were Dahir Ornelas who was 59th in 21:16.89, Kevin Tomas-Lopez who was 72nd in 22:36.73, Romero Villagomez-Juarez who was 98th in 25:55.65, and Elijah Garcia who was 100th in 26:03.12.
Another Center runner was Isaac Garcia who was 103rd in 26:27.14.
Center ran only two girls and did not record a team score. Jaylah Martinez was 50th in 25:09.73, and Lavine Casas Hernandez was 76th in 31:19.14.
Monte Vista
Monte Vista had three runners in the boys race. Matthieu Dean was 46th in 20:24.55, Haven Heredia was 67th in 22:00.99, and Logan Hernandez was 102nd in 26:21.89.
There were also three Monte Vista runners in the girls race. In addition to Romero, Anahi Murietta was 35th in 23:47.38, and Kaliah Stucky was 81st in 35:02.05.
Sargent
The Farmers entered only two runners in Madeline Mitchell who was 15th in 22:38.98, and Sydney Curtis who was 42nd in 24:22.61.
Sargent did not enter any runners in the boys race.
Sierra Grande
The Panthers had three runners in the boys race. Jacob Portillo was 85th in 23:28.84, Daniel Rodriguez was 91st in 24:41.30, and Eugene Allaart was 108th in 33:55.33.
Regionals are next
The Alamosa and Centauri teams will run at the Class 3A Region 2 Meet on Thursday at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. The first race begins at 1:30 p.m.
Centennial, Center, Del Norte, Monte. Vista, Sargent and Sierra Grande will be at the Class 2A Region 4 Meet at Jack-a-lope Acres in Ignacio on Friday. Running begins at 10 a.m.
