ALAMOSA – The Monte Vista High School boys golf team tied for first place at the Butch Braswell Invitational Thursday at the Salida Golf Club.
The Pirates finished with a score of 259 along with The Vanguard School.
Leading Monte Vista was Connor Mellott who was the medalist with a 78. Jakoby Ross tied for 11th with an 89, Corbin Castillo was 16th with a 92, and Aiden Ford was 17th with a 93.
Alamosa finished in sixth place with 274. The Mean Moose were led by Zavier Medina who tied for sixth with an 86, followed by Clayton Treinen who tied for 14th with a 91, Erik Garcia who was 21st with a 97, and Grant Kirkland who was 34th with a 112.
Del Norte was 13th with 385. The Tigers were led by Damon Ledford-Vigil who was 39th with a 117, followed by Julian Vigil who was 45th with a 130, and Graesyn Coulson who was 49th with a 138.

Rye Invitational
Alamosa sent four golfers to compete at the Rye Invitational Thursday at Hollydot Golf Course in Colorado City.
The Mean Moose placed 12th with 278. They were led by Eliott MacKey who tied for sixth place with an 81. Following MacKey were Brady Van Iwaarden who tied for 30th with a 92, Foster Boyd who tied for 59th with a 105, and Kyana Mason who tied for 68th with a 110.
Rye won the tournament with 243, followed by Pueblo West with 254, Pueblo County with 257, Cheyenne Mountain with 259, and St. Mary’s with 261.
Manitou Springs’ Hayden Dorsey was the medalist with a two-under-par 69.

All of the San Luis Valley boys golf teams competed at the Monte Vista Invitational at the Monte Vista Golf Course on Friday.
Those results will be published in Wednesday’s paper.

The SLV schools will compete in tournaments in Gunnison and Pagosa Springs on Tuesday.
