Multiple organizations host Easter Egg Hunts

CENTER – About 100 people lined up with their children on the big lawn at the Center Consolidated School District campus for a giant Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, hosted by many wonderful organizations. This was one of many Easter egg hunts held in the Valley.

There were rows and rows of multicolored eggs set out on the green area, along with golden eggs, the children were told that they could find and trade in for prizes.

Some of the children had colorful Easter bunny ears on. One small girl was wearing a pink jacket and carrying a stuffed pink Easter bunny with her. There were a couple of children carrying Easter baskets that glistened in the sun. Many children had baskets that also looked like Easter bunnies. There were children that were laughing, playing, and excited about lining up and getting ready for the big easter egg hunt that was about to take place on the lawn.

A little after 9 a.m., the hunt began. All the kids happily walked, skipped and even ran up and down the giant grassy area, picking up easter eggs and placing them in their baskets. One small boy, Jesus Martinez filled up his basket and began helping a boy that was standing beside him fill up his basket. When asked if he was enjoying himself, he stated he could not’ wait to eat the candy from his plastic easter eggs.

The Easter Bunny was also a part of the hunt walking around wearing a bright blue shirt. He was walking, skipping, giving high fives and hugs out to the kids.

Center's new police chief, Randall Aragon, was enjoying the hunt with the kids, along with other Center Police Department officers. Town Trustee Richie Barela was seen high fiving the Easter Bunny.

After the egg hunt, the kids were invited to the Center United Methodist Church next door to participate in a lot of fun Easter activities.

Carolina Rodriguez, 5, attended the hunt with her grandmother Juana and was asked what she liked best about the hunt. “The bunny is so cute,” she said.

Vicki Ratzlaff, of the Center United Methodist Church and Anna’s Mission, thanked all of the organizations involved in hosting the activities for the children including the Center United Methodist Church, the Town of Center, First South West Bank, Eagle Air Med, the Center Kiwanis Club, the Center Police Department, Pat Eastman and the Easter Bunny.
