ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School boys golf team hosted its second tournament of the year Wednesday at Cattails Golf Course.

A total of eight teams and 54 individuals competed at the invitational.

The Mean Moose finished second with 250 strokes – 10 behind tournament champion Pagosa Springs with 240. Leading Alamosa were Eliott MacKey and Clayton Treinen who both tied for fifth with an 83. Serjio Najera was ninth with an 84, and Gibson Gillespie tied fir 14^th with an 88.

Eight more Mean Moose golfers competed as extras and did not figure in the team scoring.

Foster Boyd tied for 10^th with an 86, Zavier Medina and Brady Van Iwaarden tied for 14^th with an 88, Jace Sanchez tied for 18^th with an 89, Jaron Mason tied for 29^th with a 99, Mason Weyers tied for 38^th with a 105, Kyan Mason tied for 41^st with a 107, and Erik Garcia tied for 44^th with a 108.

Monte Vista was fourth with 253 and was led by Connor Mellott who was fourth with a 75. Jakoby Ross tied for 12^th with an 87, Aiden Ford tied for 21^st with as 91, and Corbin Castillo tied for 24^th with a 93.

Logan Futrell played as an extra and he finished 23^rd with a 92.

Pagosa Springs’ Johnathon Smith was the medalist with a two-under-par 69.

What’s next

Monte Vista competed at the Swallows Charter Academy Tournament on Friday at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo. It will next compete at the Fowler Invitational Friday at Cottonwood Links. Del Norte will also be at Fowler.

Alamosa will be at the Buena Vista Invitational on Wednesday.

These will be the final tournaments of the regular season.
