Las Dahlias, an all-female Mariachi group, will present a rich tapestry of Mexican and LatinX traditions steeped in the harmonies woven with three violins, a vihuela, and a guitarron. Check them out at https://lasdahlias.weebly.com/. Make sure to grab your dinner and sweet treats from Tacos Martinez and Frosty Acres Rolled Ice Cream, whose food trucks will be onsite at each concert this summer. ALMA will once again be collecting food items for the Alamosa Food Pantry, so please bring your non-perishable items.
The group performs Mariachi repertoire, music from or inspired by Latin America and a few original works. Las Dahlias was originally founded by Teresita Lozano, Valeria Carlos, and Roberta Maldonado. The group has since expanded in members but remains committed to their all-female roots and cultural diversity. Las Dahlias currently consists of five members with a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and music careers. The instrumentation of the group includes three violins, a vihuela, and a guitarron.
The mission of Las Dahlias is to promote female representation and share music of Mexican influence throughout the state of Colorado. Career highlights include performances at the Inaugural Ball of Jared Polis, the Governor's Mansion for leaders in the LatinX community, the Crested Butte Music Festival, and the Major League Baseball All-Star Week.
