ALAMOSA – The Eight-Man Mountain League released its All-League football team earlier this week with 12 players from the San Luis Valley getting honors.

Sanford had seven players named All-League and was led by Trason Gartrell who was a first team selection and was also named the Offensive Player of the Year.

Gartrell led the Mustangs in both rushing and passing. He ran for 1,252 yards on 162 carries and 16 touchdowns, he completed 34 out of 85 passed for 585 yards and nine touchdowns. That accounts for 1,848 yards of total offense and 25 touchdowns responsible for. He also caught two passes for 11 yards.

Gartrell was also one of Sanford’s defensive leaders with 72 tackles and two interceptions.

Also named to the first team were Ryan Cordova, J.D. Faucette, Lucas Miller, and William Malouff.

Cordova had 59 tackles, and two sacks. He also caught one pass for 15 yards.

Faucette was Sanford’s second-leading rusher with 620 yards on 100 carries and seven touchdowns, and he also caught five passes for 56 yards. On defense, he had 58 tackles and two interceptions.

Miller had 33 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery.

Malouff had 37 tackles and one interception. He also had two receptions for 26 yards.

The remaining two Mustangs were placed on the second team in Rylan Mortensen and Bryce Keck.

Mortensen ran for 256 yards on 50 carries and scored four touchdowns and he had four catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he had 39 tackles.

Keck had 27 tackles.

Sargent had five All-league players. Lucas Garcia and Jayce Capron were both first team selections, Kyler Jones and Bryson Paulson were second team, and Brysan Medina was honorable mention.

Statistics for the Farmers were unavailable.

Rounding out the All-League selections included Mancos with nine which included Defensive Player of the Year Jacob Martin. Its coach, Josh Gardner was the Coach of the Year.

Dove Creek had seven selections, Norwood had six, and Dolores had three.
