Del Norte boys, Monte Vista girls win Monte Vista Last Chance Meet

MONTE VISTA – Several track and field athletes from the San Luis Valley converged on Harvey Sullivan Field on Friday for the Monte Vista Last Chance Meet.

Alamosa

The Alamosa boys finished in tied for ninth place with 18 points. The Mean Moose were led by Giovanni Negrini who placed third in the 400-meter dash in 57.47 seconds.

The Lady Mean Moose were placed 11th with 13 points and were led by Brooklyn Boehm who was second in the shot put at 30-3 ½.

Antonito

The Antonito boys were 13th with 11 points. Leading the Trojans was Everett Holloway who won the 3,200-meter run in 12:32.99.

The Lady Trojans were 13th with 11 points. Their top placer was Alyssa Abeyta who was fourth in the 800 in 3:07.69.

Centauri

The Centauri boys took seventh place with 34 points. They were led by Graham Hunzeker who was third in the shot put at 35-8 ½, Isaiah Livingstone who was third in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 48.11, Dorian Quintana who was third in the discus at 107-8, and Mason Weyers who was third in the 110-meter high hurdles in 19.57.

The Lady Falcons placed fourth with 49 points and were led by Jeana Dunn who won the 3,200 in 16:48.15 and was third in the 1,600 in 7:15.68. Ella Guymon was second in the 1,600 in 6:45.75 and was third in the 800 in 3:02.23.

The Centauri girls won the 4x800-meter relay in 11:58.45.

Center

The Center boys finished in fourth place with 62 points. Leading the Vikings were Andree Meraz who won the discus at 120-0 and was third in the 100 at 11.81, and Anjel Palma who won the triple jump at 30-10 ½.

The Vikings were also second in the 4x400 in 3:43.97, and third in the 4x200 in 1:36.98.

The Lady Vikings placed third with 69 points and had three champions. Giselle Meraz won the discus at 98-10 ½, Dulce Palma won the long jump at 14-10, and Presley Wilson won the shot put at 33-6 ½ and was second in the discus at 98-2. Nayeli Pablo was second in the 800 in 2:59.98.

The Center girls were third in the 4x100 in 57.46.

Creede

Creede tied for ninth in the boys meet with 18 points and was led by Charlie Heinrich who won the 110 hurdles in 10.06 and was second in the 300 hurdles in 44.80.

The Lady Miners placed 12th with 12 points. Their highest placer was Ava Mankowski who was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 55.29.

Del Norte

Del Norte won the boys meet with 107 points and it had four champions. Caleb Cowett won the 800 in 2:10.05, Mads Kreutzer won the 1,600 in 5:14.62 and was third in the 800 in 2:18.64. Damon Ledford-Vigil won the pole vault at 13-6, and Calvin Quintana won the shot put at 38-0.

Also placing in the Top 3 for the Tigers were Jose Pinon who was second in the 3,200 in 12:33.91, Corbin Horrocks who was third in the pole vault at 10-9, and Jaxtin Lester who was third in the 1,600 in 5:14.62.

The Tigers also won two relays. They took the 4x400 in 3:37.68 and the 4x800 in 8:42.68.

The Lady Tigers finished in second place with 74 points and they won four championships. Brooke Davis-Martinez tied for first in the high jump at 4-4, Frannie Edelen won the 1,600 in 6:15.72, Baylie Laymon tied for first in the high jump at 4-4 and won the pole vault at 8-6, and Madeline Mitchell won the 400 in 1:04.72 and was second in the 200 in 28.05. Jessamy Pacheco was third in the 400 in 1:08.82.

Moffat

The Moffat boys were eighth with 26 points. Their top lacer was Chase Shellabarger who was fourth in the shot put at 35-2 ½.

The Lady Cowboys took sixth place with 37 points. They were led by Kendra Pollard who was second in the 400 in 1:07.44, third in the 100 in 14.12, and third in the high jump at 4-2.

Monte Vista

The Pirates finished in third place with 72 points. Leading the way were Jamian Martinez who was second in the 400 in 56.58, and John Jake Naranjo who was second in the shot put at 37-11 ½ and second in the discus in 119-5 ½.

Monte Vista also took second in the 4x200 in 1:35.35 and third in the 4x100 in 45.91.

The Lady Pirates won the girls meet with 85 points. They were led by Elena Baumgardner who was second in the triple jump at 30-11 ¾, Sasha Dupont who was second in the 100 in 13.86, Madison Henderhan who was third in the shot put at 28-10 ½, and Kailah Stucky was third in the 100 hurdles in 18.48.

The Monte Vista girls won the 4x100 in 52.99 and the 4x400 in 4:58.90. They were second in the 4x200 in 1:53.09.

Sanford

The Sanford boys did not score.

The Lady Mustangs were seventh with 25 points and were led by Jewel Caldon who was third in the triple jump at 28-2.

Sanford also took second in the girls 4x200 in 2:06.46.

Sangre de Cristo

The Thunderbirds placed sixth with 42 points and were led by Brody Artaechevarria who won the 400 in 54.36.

Sangre was also third in the boys 4x400 in 3:49.05.

The Lady Thunderbirds were 10th with 19 points. Olyvia Wofford won the 100 hurdles in 18.03, and Taylor Freel was third in the discus at 96-5 ½.

Sierra Grande

Leading the Panthers were Jadyn Martinez who won the high jump at 5-10 and was third in the long jump at 19-5. Nehemiah Wilson was second in the long jump at 19-10 ½ and second in the triple jump at 37-10, and Ayden Lopez was third in the triple jump at 36-11 ¾ and third in the high jump at 5-8.

For the Lady Panthers. Eneria Quintana was second in the long jump at 14-6 ¾ and third in the 200 in 28.24.
