CHSCA All-State games to take place June 10-13 in Pueblo

CHSCA All-State games to take place June 10-13 in Pueblo

ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Coaches Association will host its annual All-State games, which will take place next Tuesday through Friday at Colorado State University Pueblo.

Eleven athletes from the San Luis Valley and four local coaches will take part in this year’s games.

In boys basketball, only one local will be competing in Sanford’s Ben Sittler, who will be playing for the black team.

Del Norte’s Austin Dillon will coach the blue team.

There will be better representation in girls basketball with four locals participating. Monte Vista’s Allessah Archuleta, Sierra Grande’s Jaylyn Quezada and Sanford’s Brooklynn Reynolds will be playing on the red team, and Center’s Presley Wilson will be on the white team.

Sierra Grande’s Tomas Maestas will coach the red team.

Both boys and girls basketball will take place Tuesday and Wednesday at Massari Arena.

The girls semifinals will have the red vs. the white at 4 p.m., and the blue vs. the black at 5:15 p.m.

The boys semifinals will have the red vs. the white at 6:30 p.m., and the blue vs. the black at 7:45 p.m.

Basketball on Wednesday will have the girls third-place game at 3:30 p.m, the girls championship at 5 p.m., the boys third-place at 6:30 p.m., and the boys championship at 8 p.m.

In volleyball, Alamosa’s Taybor Wiedeman for the white team. She will be joined by former Alamosa student-athlete Emily Melgoza, who graduated from McClave.

Volleyball will take place on Thursday and Friday also at Massari Arena.

The semifinals will take place on Thursday with the red vs. the white at 6:30 p.m., and the blue vs. the black at 7:45 p.m.

Volleyball will conclude Friday with the third-place match at 2:30 p.m., and the championship at 4 p.m.

Three locals will participate in the wrestling dual meet.

Monte Vista’s Jeremiah Baumgardner will wrestle at 175 pounds, Monte Vistas’s Kevin Cisneros will compete at 150 pounds, and Sierra Grande’s Bryant Tijerina will be in the 132-pound match.

Sierra Grande’s Luis Corona will be one of the coaches.

The wrestling match will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Massari Arena.

The All-State Games will conclude on Friday evening with the football game.

Two locals will be playing for the South team in Monte Vista’s Kaden Madrid, and Sierra Grande’s Aron Ojeda.

Monte Vista coach Al Ford will be an assistant for the South.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at the Thunderbowl.
