ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School boys golf team went to the Pueblo area for the third straight tournament as it competed at the Pueblo Centennial Invitational Wednesday at Walking Stick Golf Course.
The Mean Moose finished in second place with a score of 244 – 12 strokes behind tournament champion Pueblo West with 232.
Leading Alamosa was Gibson Gillespie who tied for fifth place with a 79. Serjio Najera tied for seventh with an 82, Clayton Treinen tied for 10th with an 83, and Eliott MacKey tied for 29th with a 93.
Pueblo West’s Parker Shaw was the medalist with an even-par 72.
Alamosa will play in two tournaments on Sept. 4. Part of the team will play at the Rye Invitational at Hollydot Golf course, while others will be at the Salida Invitational.

Canon City Invitational
The Monte Vista High School boys golf team was at the Canon City Invitational Thursday at Four Mile Ranch Golf Course.
The Pirates finished ninth with a score of 257. They were led by Connor Mellott who tied for medalist honors with Canon City’s Bret Jones with a two-over-par 74. Corbin Castillo tied for 38th with a 91, Aiden Ford tied for 43rd with a 92, and Logan Futrell tied for 49th with a 94.
Pueblo West was the team champion with 244. Cheyenne Mountain was second with 248, Liberty was third with 253, and Palmer Ridge, Palmer, Lewis-Palmer and Air Academy all tied for fourth with 255.
Monte Vista will next compete at the Gunnison Invitational Tuesday at Dos Rios Golf Course.
