ALAMOSA — Creede, described as “the last silver boom town in Colorado”, is well known for its spectacular surroundings, rich history and vibrant Main Street that echoes days gone by. Nestled among the authentic storefronts is a green door, flanked on either side by flowerpots and a sign overhead that reads Aspen Inn.

Four boutique rooms with themes of the seasons

ALAMOSA — Creede, described as “the last silver boom town in Colorado”, is well known for its spectacular surroundings, rich history and vibrant Main Street that echoes days gone by. Nestled among the authentic storefronts is a green door, flanked on either side by flowerpots and a sign overhead that reads Aspen Inn.

What’s behind that door is a Vacation by Rentals Owner (VRBO), including boutique rooms beautifully themed after the seasons.

“My wife, Dee, and I love the mountains and have vacationed in the mountain west about every year,” says David Jennings, new owner of the Aspen Inn. “We moved to Creede seasonally just before Covid and made the full-time move from North Carolina to here in January of this year. We wanted to invest in the community and somewhat prepare for eventual retirement.”

Aspen Inn initially caught the Jennings’ attention when, during their first visit to Creede, they stayed at the VRBO. “I knew it was a good property,” Jennings says.

Located in a historic building right on Main Street and across the street from the Creede Repertory Theatre, the building has a rich history.

“I believe the building was built after the large fire of 1892,” says Jennings. Since that time, it has been a firehouse, a hardware store, a grocery and an inn with a restaurant.

The Aspen Inn has a total of four boutique rooms, including three one-bedroom rooms and one two-bedroom with décor that captures the stunning scenery outside and names that reflect the season.

The Starry Night suite reflects the night sky in the mountains that comes alive with stars. The décor of the Spring Suite captures the beauty of nature that comes alive after winter. The décor of the Fall Suite captures the warm hues as temperatures drop and the aspen changes, and the Summer Suite reflects the cool tones that settle in after the sun has set.

Each boutique room has access to a common room where coffee, water and snacks are available. For meals, the Aspen Inn is also located right in the midst of things with one reviewer saying, “There were great restaurants all within walking distance.”

The Aspen Inn is part of a larger building, also owned by Jennings, that houses the Spare Keg Brewery. Similar to the Spare Keg in Alamosa, the establishment boasts an interesting selection of brews where “farm to tap” is a way of doing business.
