Alamosa Round-UP begins with Friday morning slack

ALAMOSA – The 2025 Alamosa Round-UP got under way on Friday morning with the slack performance.

There were three times events in the slack – ladies barrel racing, tie-down roping and team roping.

There were 32 barrel racers in the slack with Brittney Hawley taking the lead with a run of 17.53 seconds. Brittany Fellows was second in 17.56, Laura Lambert was third in 17.65, Brittany Tonozzi was fourth in 17.67, and Nicole Banning was fifth in 17.70.

Four other racers also had times on less than 18 seconds. Shali Lord had a time of 17.71, Carol Ruggieri ran the course in 17.74, Lauryn Motley had a time of 17.89, and Maddison Bays had a time of 17.74.

Tie-down roping was next with five competitors entered.

Ryan Belew took the lead after the slack with a time of 11.4 seconds. Morgan Murray was second in 14.4, Luke Meier was third in 16.7, and Glenn Stuckey was fourth in 14.4.

A total of 13 team ropers finished out the slack.

The team of Roan Oldfield and Pace Blanchard took the lead after the slack with a time of 4.8 seconds. Bridger Ketcham and John Hisel were second in 6.4, Kalai Nobriga and Kyon Cluff were third in 6.7, and Milford Nez and Britten Williams were fourth in 8.4.

The first performance took place on Friday evening. Today, the Cowboy Church services are at 9 a.m., and the second performance is at 6:30 p.m. A concert by Chancey Williams wraps up the rodeo following the second performance.
