Vigil resigns as RG Bank Board of Directors chair

MONTE VISTA — Donn Vigil has resigned as Chair of the RG Bank Board of Directors, effective Oct. 7.

Vigil said he felt RG Bank was in a great position, so the time was right for the Bank. He will now also be able to fully retire and spend more time with his wife Mary, his grandkids and riding his motorcycle.

RG Bank President and CEO Shon Davis said, "Donn had a warmth to him. He was well known, well beyond RG Bank, with time served on Boards such as the Adams State University Foundation Board and the Rio Grande Hospital Board. If you were with Vigil getting coffee or at an event, he had many people who wanted to come see him to visit and see their friend Donn."

In 1979, Vigil started his career at RG Bank as the bank's in-house real estate appraiser. Over time, he was trained in mortgage lending as a loan officer. Ultimately, Vigil spent the majority of his working career as Chief Lending Officer.

He earned his way to President-CEO of the bank and served in that capacity until his retirement in 2017. He was appointed to the BOD in 2012, serving the last several years as Chair of the BOD.

Davis said, "Vigil's presence, influence and warmth while working at and serving on the board of RG Bank will be missed, but certainly never forgotten."

RG Bank is headquartered in Monte Vista and has branches in Alamosa and Pagosa Springs. According to Davis, a new Chair of the Board of Directors will be selected at a future meeting.
