OptiMystics to host Cinco De Mayo celebration

MONTE VISTA — The OptiMystics Citizens Action Network recently announced that it will be hosting its second annual Cinco De Mayo celebration on Thursday, May 5, in Downtown Monte Vista.

An estimated 1,000 people attended last year’s event, and the OptiMystics are hoping this year’s event will bring even more people to celebrate.

More than 24 vendors and food trucks have already reserved space for this year’s celebration. Blocks 100 and 200 on Adams Street will be closed off for the event.

A car show will also be part of the celebration and will begin at 9 a.m. The OptiMystics are also looking into a special car ride around Homelake on the afternoon of the event. More information will be available on this as it becomes available.

This year’s festival will include arts and crafts vendors, a bouncy house for children, live music, face painting, food and drink, and much more.

There is still time to be a vendor or get into the car show. Vendor packets and car show registration forms are available on the OptiMystics Citizens Action Network website.

The OptiMystics announced that participating local businesses will be offering specials on the day of the event.
