ALAMOSA – A total of 14 boys golf teams and 62 individuals competed at the Alamosa Invitational Friday at Cattails Golf Course.

Monte Vista took second place with a score of 233. The Pirates finished five strokes behind Montezuma-Cortez.

Leading Monte Vista was Liam Ellithorpe who finished tied for fourth with a one-over-par 73. Kaden Mellott finished sixth with a 77, Connor Mellott tied for 14th with an 83, Jakoby Ross was 17th with an 84, and Aiden Ford tied for 20th with an 88.

Alamosa placed seventh with 260. Leading the Mean Moose was Kobe Mizokami who tied for 10th with an 81. Serjio Najera was 18th with an 85, Josh Cline tied for 31st with a 94, Clayton Treinen also tied for 31st with a 94, and Carsten Kirkland tied for 50th with a 109.

Del Norte finished 13th with 328. Leading the Tigers was Tytus Atencio who placed 48th with a 105. Landan Velasquez tied for 50th with a 109, Trenton Woolf was 56th with a 114, and Noah Bailey was 61st with a 126.

Johnathon Smith of Pagosa Springs was the medalist with a two-under-par 69. Montezuma-Cortez’s Vince Lopez was second with a one-under-par 70.

Alamosa and Monte Vista will next compete at the Pueblo County Invitational this coming Friday at Hollydot Golf Course in Colorado City. Del Norte’s next action is at the Pagosa Springs Invitational on Aug. 28.
