ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Activities Association posted its All-State basketball teams earlier this week.
The girls team was released on Monday with 13 locals being honored. The boys team was posted on Tuesday with 10 players from the San Luis Valley being recognized.
The All-State teams are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.
Boys
Class 4A
Alamosa
The Mean Moose had only one All-State player in junior Victor Zepeda, who was an honorable mention selection. Zepeda led Alamosa in scoring with 17.9 points per game, and in assists with 2.5 per game. He also averaged 3.7 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game.
Class 3A
Centauri
The Falcons had three selections and they were led by seniors Carson Bagwell and Troy Sowards, both of whom were placed on the second team. Senior Jace Haslett was honorable mention.
All three averaged in double figures in scoring. Bagwell led the team with 15.1 points per game, Sowards averaged 14.3 points, and Haslett averaged 10.7.
Bagwell also averaged 4.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Sowards averaged 4.1 rebounds, four assists and 1.7 steals, and Haslett led the team in rebounding with 5.9 per game, and he also averaged 2.2 assists, and two steals.
Monte Vista
The Pirates had one selection in junior Azariah Hurtado, who was honorable mention.
Hurtado led the team in scoring with 16.4 points per game, rebounding with 8.1 per game, assists with 2.3 per game, steals with 3.4, and blocked shots with 1.1.
Class 2A
Sanford
The Mustangs had two All-State selections and they were led by senior Ben Sittler, who was placed on the second team. Junior Trason Gartrell was honorable mention.
Both averaged in double figures in points per game. Sittler led the team with 15.7 and Gartrell was next with 10.5.
Sittler also averaged 3.5 rebounds per game, 2.9 assists and 2.7 steals. Gartrell led in rebounding with 5.3 per game, and he also averaged 2.4 assists, and 2.2 steals.
Class 1A
Sierra Grande
The Panthers had one selection in junior Jaydn Martinez, who was an honorable mention player.
Martinez led the team in scoring with 18.9 points per game. He also averaged 6.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 4.4 steals per game.
Centennial
The Rams also had one player selected in senior Jose Molina, who was honorable mention.
Molina averaged 11.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 steals per game, all of which led the team. He also averaged 1.6 assists per game.
Sangre de Cristo
The Thunderbirds’ sole representative on the All-State team was junior Kolby Shellabarger, who was an honorable mention selection.

Girls
Class 4A
Alamosa
The Lady Mean Moose had two All-State selections in senior Morgan Ortega, and junior Aubrey Rothermich, both of whom were honorable mention.
Ortega led Alamosa in scoring with 10.2 points per game and in assists with 3.8 per game. She also averaged 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
Rothermich averaged 8.5 points per game, and she also led in rebounding with 4.5 per game and in blocked shots with 1.3. She also averaged 1.5 assists and one steal per game.
Class 3A
Centauri
The Lady Falcons had three selections in seniors Hannah Curtis and Braelyn Tucker, and junior Joselyn McCarroll. All three were honorable mention.
Tucker was the team’s leading scorer with 9.1 points per game. She also averaged 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.5 steals.
Curtis averaged 8.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 2.6 steals.
McCarroll averaged 7.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Monte Vista
The Lady Pirates had one selection in senior Allessah Archuleta, who was an honorable mention selection.
Archuleta averaged 8.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
Class 2A
Sanford
The Lady Mustangs had two All-State players. They were led by senior Brooklynn Reynolds, who was a second team selection, and senior Shasta Bond, who was honorable mention.
Reynolds averaged 8.5 points per game amd she also led the team in assists with 3.9, and in steals with 2.9. She also averaged 2.7 rebounds per game.
Bond was Sanford’s top scorer with 11.5 points per game and she also led in rebounding with five per game. She also averaged 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Sargent
The Lady Farmers also had two All-State selections in junior Angelise Garcia, and sophomore Kandace Pargin, who were both honorable mention.
Both averaged in double figures in scoring as Pargin averaged 15 points per game, and Garcia averaged 13.1.
Pargin also averaged five rebounds, 2.8 assists and four steals per game.
Garcia averaged 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 4.8 steals per game.
Center
The Lady Vikings had one All-Stater in senior Presley Wilson, who was honorable mention.
Wilson led the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game. She also av eraged two rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
Class 1A
Centennial
The Lady Rams had one selection in junior Anai Medina, who was honorable mention.
Medina led the team in scoring with 20.9 points per game, in assists with 2.3 per game, and in steals with 4.6 per game. She also averaged 4.9 rebounds per game.
Sierra Grande
The Lady Panthers’ sole representative on the All-State team was senior Jaylyn Quezada, who was honorable mention.
Quezada led the team in scoring with 12.2 points per game, in assists with 2.5 per game, and in steals with 4.8 per game. She also averaged 4.1 rebounds per game.
