Vigil named Rio Grande S&L chairman

Donn Vigil

MONTE VISTA—The board of directors of Rio Grande Savings & Loan has announced that former president and current board member Donn Vigil has been named the institution’s new chairman. He succeeds former board chairman Dan Burns, who passed away late last year after a long illness.
“I’ve had the honor of working with Donn for many years,” said Kathy (Rogers) Woods, president of the 114 year-old institution. “His experience as Rio Grande president along with his experience as a director makes him the perfect choice.”
Very active in the San Luis Valley community, Vigil was a founding member and served for 20 years on the Monte Vista Educational Foundation board as well as the Monte Vista School Board and the Colorado Association of School Boards. He is currently serving on the boards of the Adams State University Foundation and Rio Grande Hospital.
In addition to Vigil, other members of the Rio Grande board include vice chairman Jim Clare, Chuck Bryant, Mark Lounsbury, Eric Kimberling and Kathy (Rogers) Woods.
Founded in Monte Vista in 1905, Rio Grande Savings and Loan Association operates three branches in southern Colorado, including Monte Vista, Alamosa and Pagosa Springs.
