SAN LUIS VALLEY— San Luis Valley Council of Governments still has funding available to towns and counties for economic development projects through the SLVCOG 2019 Mini-Grant program.

To apply for the mini-grants, municipalities or counties must be members of the San Luis Valley Council of Governments.

SLVCOG offers mini grants to local governments to promote and expand local economic base, which includes projects that increase the value and/or benefit in the areas commonly linked to economic development such as increased tourism, jobs, housing, quality of life, recreation, transportation, creation/ expansion/retention of business, emergency mitigation, education, health and environment. Maximum grant to each COG member may not to exceed $5,000.

Funding has assisted with playground equipment for Crestone, a clock on Mineral County’s renovated courthouse, the City of Alamosa’s Artscape program and solar speed signs in San Luis. Counties and municipalities may apply for funding for more than one project.

The SLVCOG Mini-Grant program is funded through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs’ Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance Program.

Grant funds will be awarded by the SLVCOG Executive Board. All decisions are final. Funding will be provided for projects that are approved by the SLVCOG and provide proof of invoicing and payment for all project costs being completed by December 31, 2019. Therefore, this is a reimbursement grant program. No work on the project may begin prior to full SLVCOG board approval and a fully executed contract between the SLVCOG and the applicant.
