Sargent BOE announces meeting highlights

MONTE VISTA— The Sargent School Board met on Monday, Aug. 28 and offered the following meeting highlights.
The resignation of junior high assistant football coach Paul Gearhart was approved, with appreciation for his service. Employment of substitute custodial, cafeteria and transportation employees was approved along with a list of extra pay position agreements for coaches, sponsors, teacher mentors and grant funded extra duty positions.
Approval was given for areas of interest that the board would appreciate the District Accountability Committee’s focus on for the upcoming year. Items include evaluation of the four-day schedule, continued work on landscaping design, website review, budget and calendar.
The following requisitions were approved: VLCM, $6,140 for four Epson Projectors; First USA Bank, $8,249.80 for Amazon purchase of 11 staff ProBook laptops; CDW-G $9,646.56 for 48 Chrome Books.
The board reviewed and approved revisions to board policy DFC On-Campus Housing for second reading and adoption and policy GCA-R-1, Professional Staff Positions (AD job descriptions) for a first reading.
The board also approved minutes of previous meetings and financial reports for July.
The board reviewed and discussed a list of measurements to evaluate the four-day week schedule; the process of evaluation will be on-going over the three-year pilot period.
The next regular meeting of the board will be on Monday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the high school library.
