Prescribed burn planned on RGNF

SAGUACHE COUNTY— Rio Grande National Forest fire personnel will conduct a prescribed burn in Taylor Canyon, in Saguache County Friday, Sept. 13. The Buffalo Pass burn is 270-acres. Ignitions will begin around 10 a.m. All ignitions will be completed on Friday. Smoke may be visible in the area and crews will continue to monitor the burn until significant moisture occurs.


Crews continued to work on the Alamaditas prescribed burn Thursday, Sept. 12. Ignitions will continue through Saturday, Sept. 14. Smoke and flames may be visible from Highway 285 near Antonito. Crews will also continue to monitor this fire as needed.
