Patricia Ione Malouff

Lifetime San Luis Valley resident Patricia Ione Malouff, loving wife and mother passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the age of 85.

Patricia was born on March 1, 1937, in Hugo, Colo., to John and Iris (Daniels) Widhalm. When she was a young girl, the family moved to a farm in the Waverly District in Monte Vista, Colo. She spent her childhood alongside her siblings on a small farm, learning to love and care for the animals, as well as the time she spent in the kitchen learning the craft of cooking with her mother and caring for her younger brothers.

On April 16, 1955, she married Joseph Malouff. They lived in Capulin, Colo., and Frisco, Colo., before settling down in their forever home in Monte Vista, Colo. Here they established a small business where Patricia worked side by side with her husband for 50 years as they raised two daughters, Tamara and Melissa, and one son Isaac.

A loving mother, Patricia passionately devoted her life to family. In time, many people drawn in from the business would experience this for themselves after settling down for a warm cup of coffee, a meal, and perhaps a story or two within the Malouffhousehold. Hers was a home where any and all would feel welcome and was lovingly referred to as Pat’s Cafe.

This blessing would continue to blossom with the passage of time. Patricia's home served as the beating heart of a vast family tree, where children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins would regularly stop in to visit. All nurtured by their kind and loving matriarch.

Patricia's passing was preceded by her husband Joseph Malouff, her parents John and Iris (Daniels) Widhalm, her sister Thelma Turney, her brother Dale Widhalm, sisters-in-law Jesse Malouff, Betty Malouff, Virginia Widhalm, Barbara Widhalm, brothers-in-law Billy Malouff and Bill Hamilton as well as her dear friend Beverly Malouff.
