MONTE VISTA—Monte Vista School District Superintendent Robert Webb announced his resignation at the Thursday, April 11 meeting of the Monte Vista Board of Education. Webb is leaving the district to take a new position in Missouri. Webb will serve the Monte Vista district until the end of this school year and will have his final day at the end of June.
“I certainly am sad to see him (Webb) go. I know it’s for a variety of different reasons and has nothing to do with the district. I would like to thank him. I know having been on the board now for almost nine years that we are in a much better place due to the leadership of Bob Webb. Our finances are in a better place. Some of that is that the state has turned things around a little bit, but I really think that the majority of it has do with the leadership, and the leadership he fostered among all of the folks within the district,” said Board President Matt Nehring.
After his remarks, Nehring and the board dived into creating the superintendent search and selection process. A new superintendent will have to start by July 1, and it is the hope of the board to have some overlap so that the new superintendent can meet and discuss the district with Webb. The new hire will be the top administrator beginning in the 2020-21 school year.
Due to the short nature of Webb’s resignation the board will be moving the process in an expedited fashion. Through discussion and review of the previous superintendent search that hired Webb in 2010 the board approved desired qualifications that will be advertised and the multi-panel interviews that will occur for top candidates.
The application and open position has begun to be advertised. The board has decided that applications will be accepted by interested individuals until May 9; finalists will be publicly announced May 10; then finalists will be invited for interviews that will be held on May 14 and May 15, and the first official day of the new superintendent’s employment will be July 1.
