MONTE VISTA — Hundreds of people attended the annual community Easter Egg Hunt at Chapman Park on Saturday, April 3.

The Monte Vista Elks, the Monte Vista Police Department and Dylan Brown Agency — Farmers Insurance organized the event.

“It was a beautiful day,” organizers said with temperatures reaching 70 degrees. “A day where kids and adults alike were ready and anxious to get outside.”

Children enjoyed gathering Easter eggs, jumping in the bounce houses, riding ponies and having their faces painted. Kids and adults tossed Frisbees and played cornhole.

Food was provided by Papa Murphy’s Pizza and the Valley Church of the Nazarene. There was ice cream and popcorn.

Sunflower Bank, Monte Vista Coop, Boys and Girls Club, Monte Vista Parks and Recreation, Calvary Baptist Church, and Farmers Insurance had booths. Lenco West brought a tractor.

“There were many donations given that made this event a success,” organizers said.

The Monte Vista Fire Department allowed children to sit in the fire engine and spray water from the fire hose.

CE Glunz, Exalted Ruler of the Monte Vista Elks Lodge, Chief Dingfelder and his officers, Sgt. Michael Martinez, Cpl. David Pino, Cpl. Tyler Harford and officers Dylon Golden, Steven Pino, Ale Quintero and Kris Donaldson and the staff of the Dylan Brown Agency worked to provide “endless fun and excitement for everyone.”
