CSP investigating MVPD officer-involved crash

MONTE VISTA — A Monte Vista Police Department officer was involved in crash Tuesday night, Nov. 23, according to MVPD.

Since the Monte Vista Police Department was involved in the crash, the Colorado State Patrol was requested to investigate the crash, MV Police Chief George Dingfelder stated in a press release.

At approximately 8:38 p.m. on Tuesday, MVPD Officer Dylon Golden was eastbound on Grande Avenue, approaching Sherman Avenue, driving a patrol car, a Ford Crown Victoria, MVPD reported.

Golden attempted a left turn onto Sherman Avenue where a westbound Toyota 4 Runner driven by Brittany Buccholz, of Monte Vista, struck his vehicle, MVPD reported.

Buccholz and Golden were transported to San Luis Valley Health in Alamosa with minor injuries, MVPD reported.

While it is early in the investigation, Golden is facing a possible charge of turning left in front of approaching traffic, MVPD reported. Golden was on duty at the time of the collision.

Drugs, alcohol and speed are not considered factors in this crash, MVPD reported.
