Barbara A. Smalldridge, 80

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Eckert resident Barbara A. Smalldridge went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at the HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction, Colo. Barbara was 80 years old.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Barbara Ann Grove was born March 4, 1937, to Philip and Mary Elanore (Kehl) Grove in Waco, Texas. Barbara spent her childhood in Waco until 1953 when she moved to Mission, Texas. Barbara attended Mission High School where she sang in the choir and was on the tennis team during her senior year; she graduated from Mission High with the Class of '55. Barbara went on to further her education at 4c Business College in Waco but later went to finish her degree in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1957.

On March 12, 1958, Barbara married Ronald Eugene Smalldridge in San Benito, Texas. To this union five daughters were born.

In 2008 the couple moved from Monte Vista to Delta County, Colo. The couple would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in March.

Barbara enjoyed working puzzles, knitting and crocheting. She made many sweaters and other items for family members, and she also enjoyed oil painting. Our mom loved to do yard work and raise a garden. She was an excellent cook. Mom loved to play board games especially Scrabble; she was one tough competitor at that game.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Ronald Smalldridge; five daughters, Suzanne (Kent) Telinde of Delta, Colo., Gwen (Ki) Nelson of Delta, Colo., Brenda Bookout of Delta, Colo., Ann Marie (Hampton) Lester of Glade Park and Sarah Dick of Alamosa, Colo.; two sisters, Martha Barber of Brenham, Texas, and Phillis Boyea of Cypress, Texas. Barbara is further survived by 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
