Posted: Wednesday, Aug 27th, 2014

MONTE VISTA—On Saturday, Aug. 23 at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers from the Monte Vista Police Department were called to the Nazarene Thrift Store located at 730 1st Avenue, regarding an attempted aggravated robbery.

Upon arrival, officers were told that employees exited the thrift store after closing for the day. One employee, who was inside her vehicle in the parking lot, was approached by a female holding a butcher knife. The female, described as 5’0” tall weighing approximately 170 pounds, had her face covered with a red bandana. The female demanded money from the employee. The employee, who was already inside a vehicle with the doors locked, drove away from the business, leaving the suspect behind. No money was taken during this incident, and no injuries were reported.

Witnesses in the area reported a small blue car driving in the area, but were not sure if it was involved in this incident.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to contact the Monte Vista Police Department at 852-5111 or San Luis Valley Crime Stoppers at 589-4111.
