MONTE VISTA - On Wednesday, April 23 at approximately 4:47 p.m., officers from the Monte Vista Police Department were dispatched to 350 Adams Street regarding a 70 year-old female who reportedly shot herself in the head with a handgun.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim alive, but with a gunshot wound to the head.She was transported to the San Luis Valley Medical Center in Alamosa, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The victimís husband, Murment Chamblin, 67, was arrested and initially charged with Manslaughter. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled in Colorado Springs for April 24. Additional charges are possible and additional details will be made available once the investigation is complete.
