MONTE VISTA—After failing compliance checks three Monte Vista businesses appeared before the city councilors on March 5.
None of the business representatives denied the incidents, which occurred at Alta Convenience, Rio Bravo Liquor and Southwest Liquor. In a previous incident the board had offered the offender a choice between closing the establishment for 10 days (with only three of those being served), or committing 20 percent of the profits from the same number of days to the city.
City Attorney Gene Farish told the board he understood that Rio Bravo and Southwest Liquor would like to take the fine, while Alta convenience would shut down for three days.
