MONTE VISTA—Volunteers worked to place nearly 300 wreaths on veterans’ graves for Wreaths Across America Day Dec. 14.
Laying wreaths helps to remember those who have sacrificed for their country. Air Force Lt. Col. Patty Robertson, featured speaker at the wreath laying ceremony, emphasized how important it is to remember soldiers who have served from the Revolutionary War to modern conflicts.
The cemetery at the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake was decorated with wreaths early in the morning. Wreaths Across America Location Leader Carol Martinez said volunteers usually started placing wreaths around 7:30 in the morning and didn’t finish in time for the 10 a.m. ceremony.
