FARMINGTON, N.M.—Richard ‘Dean’ Duncan passed away, Sept. 15, 2013.
He was born in Del Norte to John S. and Maude H. Duncan on Jan. 10, 1928.
Richard graduated from Del Norte High School in 1946, then entered the Air Force in April 1948 and signed up to serve his country in June 1954. He served in Germany during the Berlin Airlift in the control towers.
Dean married Barbara Meadows in 1955 and had four children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Dean was a surveyor for the Colorado Dept. of Highways in Durango, Colo. for 35 years.
He enjoyed family and friends and had many hobbies such as hunting, fishing boating, golf and dancing. He loved the “Big Band,” Harry James and western movies.
He was also a member of the JC’s and Elks.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Maude H. Duncan, sister Irene Hutchinson and two brothers Floyd and Keith Duncan.
Duncan is survived by his son Rodger D. (Vicky) Duncan of Aztec, N.M.; three daughters Cheryl L. Jacobs of Farmington, N.M.; Deana M. Duncan of Aztec, N.M.; and Lori M. Fitzpatrick of Boise, ID; a sister-in-law Betty Trip of Del Norte; nine grand children Dustin Jacobs, Joshua Duncan, Stacie Fitzpatrick, Adrian (Carah) Bishop, Austin Jacobs, Zachary Fitzpatrick, Zebadiah Prescott, Caleb Prescott and Elijah Duncan; four great-grandchildren Elijah, Riley, Arabella and Zayne. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
