MONTE VISTAŚManny Wasinger has led the Monte Vista Pirates to a 3-0 start of the 2013 season as the Pirates dominated the Roaring Fork Rams for a 41-0 homecoming win here at Sullivan Field.

The Pirate defense was the thing to watch in the first half of the game as their rush defense only allowed five yards and a total of 27 yards in the first half. The Rams had 15 rushing attempts but the fast and furious defense dominated the offensive linemen and made their way into the backfield to clog any advancement.

Meanwhile, the Pirates marched down the field with apparent ease. They were able to carry the ball 21 times in the first half for 122 yards and senior quarterback Michael Sanchez was 4-of-8 on pass attempts for 75 yards for a total of 197 offensive yards.

After a couple of great defensive stands to start the game, the Pirates opened the game with a 27-yard touchdown from sophomore wide receiver Daniel Borunda, who rushed the ball in on a reverse. The reverse was successful despite two holding penalties on fourth down forced Monte Vista to revise their strategy.
