DEL NORTE—Long time Del Norte resident Everett B. Briggs, 66, passed away March 17, 2013 in Alamosa at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center, with his loving family and dear friends Mario “Max” Resendiz and Pepe Resendiz by his bedside.
Everett was born Dec.11, 1946 in Delta, Colo. the son of Willard Briggs and Helen Reeder Briggs.
Everett was a very proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, who served two tours in the Vietnam War.
He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Metal with one star, two Purple Hearts, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, and Good Conduct Metal. He was also a boxer while in the Marines.
Everett was a wonderful husband, father, grand-father and friend. He was a long time truck driver, with logging being the love of his life. He also enjoyed the mountains, going to the car races, horses, the out-doors, sports and dancing. But most of all he enjoyed his family and lived for his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Annabell of Del Norte, daughter Donna Jean “Sis” (Mike) Manzanares, grandchildren Savannah “Hot-rod”, Dante “Homer”, Bethanie and Chloe “Squirel”. He is also survived by four sisters: Becky Datson, Sue (Roy) Koch, Anna (Mike) Gannon and Katie Briggs; three brothers: Dale Briggs, John (Sheila) Briggs, Bill Briggs and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Helen Briggs.
Cremation was chosen as he chose to donate his body to science. A private service will be held at a later date.
