Tony Manzanares, 72

PUEBLOŚMonte Vista resident Tony Manzanares, 72, passed away Jan. 19, 2013 at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born on May 20, 1940 in Los Pinos, New Mexico, the son of Arculano Manzanares and Genera Cisneros Manzanares.
Tony was united in marriage to Guadalupe Munoz on Dec. 5, 1984 in Monte Vista. He worked as a laborer his whole life and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a 4th degree knight. Tony was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who enjoyed being a barber, being outdoors, working on his truck and the yard, but above all he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Guadalupe Manzanares of Monte Vista; daughters Melanie (Anthony) Cuevas, Monique (Jeremiah) Marquez both of Monte Vista; Kathy Lopez of Montrose; sons Anthony Manzanares Jr., Alvin (Sandy) Manzanares both of Montrose; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sisters Lorraine (Jose) Villagomez, Theresa (Petrolino) Guerra, Erlinda (Lee) Lucero, Katherine Gaitain all of Monte Vista; Vera Garcia of Ogden, Utah; Helen Flores of Del Norte; Wilma (Jesse) Samora of Grand Junction; brothers Ernest (Geraldine) Manzanares of Grand Junction; Frank (Elsie) Manzanares of Ogden, Utah. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Eileen Lopez, Angie Ramos and one brother Jr. Manzanares.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held today, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Monte Vista. Another will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Interment will follow at the San Luis Valley Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Monte Vista.
