MONTE VISTA — Student Council members at Bill Metz Elementary School organized a school spirit day, “hat day,” where students were allowed to wear hats at school if they paid 50 cents.
Students were encouraged to wear the school colors, green and gold. To prepare, student council members went into all 20 classrooms and practiced public speaking, so all students knew about day and that the money raised would go to the local animal shelter.
Hat day, Thursday, Oct. 25, was a huge success, student council members raised $108.92 and presented a check to Frank and Collette from the Conour Animal Shelter.
