DEL NORTE — Sedelia “Sadie” Garcia, 62, of Del Norte, died Oct. 6, 2012 under hospice care at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Although she lived many years with illness, she never lost her spirit to smile and be happy.
She was born on Nov. 4, 1949 in Del Norte, Colo, to Jose Abade and Juanita “Jennie” Sierra Jaramillo.
She was a graduate of Del Norte High School and was united in marriage to Phil Garcia on June 29, 1968.
Sadie worked as a CNA at the Del Norte Hospital and as a Head Start teacher as well as a home health care provider and homemaker. She loved baking, cooking and entering chili contests, where she won several times. Sadie loved being with her family, being silly with her grandchildren and doing crossword puzzle books.
Her father, Jose Jaramillo, and one infant brother, Gerard Jaramillo, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her loving husband, Filiberto Garcia of Del Norte; her mother, Juanita (Robert) Gonzales of Del Norte; one daughter, Christina Garcia of Del Norte; sons, Timothy (Judy) Garcia of Del Norte, Ramon (Patsy) Garcia and Joaquin (Nydia) Garcia, all of Pecos, N.M.; nine grandchildren; sisters. Kathy (Ron) Trujillo of Pueblo, Colo., Marcella Jaramillo and Grace Gonzales both of Del Norte; brothers, Antonio (Kathy) Jaramillo and Johnny Jaramillo, both of Del Norte, Patrick Gonzales, Michael (Richele) Jaramillo, Alan (Linda) Gonzales, Guillermo (Genie) Gonzales and Joey Dean (Rose) Gonzales, all of Monte Vista, Colo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte.
A Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the same church.
