PRESCOTT, Kansas — Rodney Clarence Springer, 60, of Prescott, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012.
He was born on May 5, 1952 at Fort Scott, Kan. To Charlie Clarence and Alta June Springer.
Rodney graduated from Prescott High School and attended Fort Scott Community College, later receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Pittsburg State University.
He served his country in the United States Army. He married Debra Shattuck, and three children were born to this union, Tatum, Quentin and Charlie.
Rod worked as an agronomist in western Kansas and later in the San Luis Valley of Colorado, where he also farmed potatoes. He returned to Prescott and continued working in the agriculture industry, farming and ranching.
Rod was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, prospecting and bird watching. He had a special love for the Rocky Mountains.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial will be in the Prescott Cemetery.
