SARGENT—Four points is all that separated two teams that have a heated rivalry. The rivalry was magnified on Friday night as the Mountain Division Title was on the line. As the final whistle blew at Sargent High School, the hometown fans were the ones rushing the field as the Farmers were able to win the game by a narrow 12-8 margin.

The Farmers, who finished the regular season with a 6-2 overall record and perfect 4-0 division record, amassed less yardage than the Sanford Indians, who fell to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the division.

Sanford controlled the game as they ran 69 plays on offense, while Sargent only had 39. In terms of total yards, Sanford accumulated 280 yards, 217 on the ground and 63 through the air. The Farmers gathered 274 yards, 161 on the ground and 113 through the air.

The Farmers used early momentum as they were able to stop a 14-play drive that the Indians were on with a turnover on downs. They then marched down the field and on the third play, senior quarterback Nate Ramirez connected through the air with senior Jace Bogle for a 43-yard pass. A failed 2-point conversion had the score 6-0 with 5:05 showing in the first quarter.

Another long drive did not amount to much for the Indians as nine plays led to a mare 22 yards on offense but a huge sack by Bogle led to a turnover on downs.
