GLORIA DeHERRERA GARCIA, 70

CANTON, Michigan — Gloria DeHerrera Garcia, 70, died Oct. 20, 2012 in Canton, following a two-year battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 17, 1940, in Saguache, Colo. to Lydia Ruybal and Edward DeHerrera.
Gloria attended Monte Vista High School, Campion Academy in Loveland, Colo., Union College in Lincoln, Neb., Pueblo Business College in Colorado, Western Nebraska College and Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Mich.
She majored in sacred music with an emphasis on piano and pipe organ. Before her achievement s in the field of music, Gloria worked for many years in the banking and insurance areas.
She traveled extensively in the United States and overseas, along with her husband, Erwin Garcia, and her children, David, Kim and Carlene, as a missionary of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Gloria devoted quality time to the study of God’s Word, writing inspirational articles and to teaching and preaching in the global school of the Gospel, SHALOM SALOM.
In addition to her musical performance, Gloria was an avid Bicyclist. Her greatest joy, however, as to be with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, her husband of 53 years, three children, two sons-in-law, three grandchildren, four sisters, three brothers-in-law, three brothers, two sisters-in-law, two uncles, one aunt, 19 nieces and nephews, 23 grand nephews and nieces and five great-grand nephews and nieces.
Gloria was buried Nov. 3 in her family’s plot at the Workers Union Cemetery at Monte Vista. A memorial service was held at the lounge of the Monte Villa Inn prior to the burial.
Her family and all who knew Gloria mourn her passing deeply and rest assured of her resurrection among the blessed on the final day.
