PUEBLO — Nonato Casimiro “Casey” Lucero, 86, of Pueblo, died Oct. 28, 2012, in Pueblo.
He was born March 20, 1926, to Delfido and Rafaelita Lujan Lucero.
Casey served in the US Army from 1944 to 1951, during both World War II and Korea. Rising to the rank of corporal, he was a highly decorated veteran, earning numerous medals, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
After his military service, he raised his family in Pueblo and retired from the Pueblo Army Depot.
Casey was a very humble man with a kind spirit, who loved taking his family hunting and fishing and enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed.
His parents; brothers, Benjamin and Salvador Lucero; and sisters, Marcella and Tommi, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Sadie Lucero; children, Nick Lucero, George (Inez) Lucero, Roseann (Bob) Escher, Linda Lucero, Dorothy (Ron) Gallegos and Kathy (Andrew) Sanchez; grandchildren, Christopher, Lorraine, Samantha, Sarah, Tiffany, Amanda, Emily, Joelle, Brian, Eric and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Damon, Nicholas, Shanice, Dasia, Andres, Esa, Anthony, Isaiah and Tristan; great-granddaughter, Leia; siblings, Ambrosita, Flora (Jerry), Tina (Tony), Viola, Dimi, Charlotte and David, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral was Friday, Nov. 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pueblo, with arrangements by Romero Family Funeral Home, Inc. of Pueblo.
