ALAMOSA — Longtime Alamosa resident Lee Gallegos, Sr., 92, died under hospice care Oct. 18, 2012 at his home in Alamosa.
Lee was born July 24, 1920 in Monte Vista to Narciso and Genevieve Gallegos. He married Sophie Espinoza Aug. 7, 1943 and they shared a life together for more than 69 years.
Lee was active in the Monte Vista Spanish congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved sharing the Bible with others who looked forward to living in a new world under God’s kingdom.
He worked as a carpenter and painter for much of his life.
Lee was a very kind, humble and generous person, who enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially the time spent with his family. He was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather .
His parents, five brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sophie Gallegos of the family home in Alamosa; his children Lee (Lorraine) Gallegos and Paul Gallegos, both of Alamosa; his grandchildren, Corrina (Phil) Fisher of Salida, Jessica Atencio of Colorado Springs, Benjamin (Carlina) Gallegos of Monument, Nathan Gallegos of Alamosa, Danny (Tammy) Gallegos of Monte Vista, and Diana (Jason) Dorn of Tennessee; his great-grandchildren : Ashley Atencio, Matthew and Olivia Fisher, Andrew and Jacob Atencio, Aspen Gallegos, Daniel Dorn, Ethan, Seth, Lauren and Renee Gallegos; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Alamosa Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Alamosa.
Arrangements are in the care of Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa.
