BOISE, Idaho — Janet Anne (Bryning) Welsh, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at the Valley View Assisted Living Facility in Boise.
She was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on April 23, 1934, to Kyle and Thelma Bryning, and was raised in Monte Vista, Colo., with her two brothers, Jerry and Bob.
Janet graduated from Cottey College in Nevada, Mo. in 1954 and, in the same year, married Eugene Russell Welsh, also of Monte Vista. She and her family relocated to Arvada, Colo.
In 1971 she earned a degree in library technology and went to work in the library at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colo.
Upon her retirement in 1996, she moved to Boise to be near her grandchildren. During her retirement, she enjoyed gardening, her pug dogs Einstein and Peanut, and volunteering at Boise libraries and the Boise City Hall.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Bryning, in 1992, and her daughter, Lee Welsh Doty, in 2001.
Survivors include her brother, Robert Bryning of Monte Vista; her daughter, Linda Henry of Long Beach, Calif.; her son, Kurt Welsh of Arvada; and grandchildren, Allison Doty Schexnayder and Kevin Doty of Boise.
A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Cloverdale Memorial Park in Boise.
