MONTE VISTA — Raymond Anthony Gallegos “Panda” (Janet Whitmer), 61 of Monte Vista, Colo. died Sept. 17, 2012, surrounded by his children, brothers and sisters.

He was born to Leopoldo and Dolores Gallegos in Del Norte, Colo. and raised there.

Survivors include his children and grandchildren, Bonnie Gallegos (Michael Benton) of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Basil Martinez of Alamosa, Colo. and Stephanie (Ahmad) Ford; great-granddaughter, Aubrianna Haily Ford of Colorado Springs; Toni Gallegos (Dean Medina) of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Brandon James Gallegos, Michael Medina and Nicholas Medina, all of Denver; Connie Gallegos (late Issac Naranjo) of Monte Vista; grandchildren, Linndon Gallegos (Gabriella Aguilera), Chailee Naranjo (Carlos Rodriguez) and Daimon Naranjo of Monte Vista, Colo.; great- grandchildren Zephaniah Gallegos of Monte Vista, and Aniya and Carlos Rodriguez of Del Norte; Amanda (Samuel) Valdez of Del Norte; grandchildren, Austin McDonald, Lynnea Valdez and Baby Valdez of Del Norte; Michael Gallegos of Aurora, Colo.; Anthony Gallegos of Dove Creek, Colo.; Raven Gallegos of Ignacio, Colo.; and Christina Castillo of El Paso, Texas.

Also surviving are many siblings, Eugene (Corrine) Gallegos of Del Norte, Lucille (Gilbert) Chavez of Del Norte, Arthur “Splinter” Gallegos of Monte Vista, Catherine Looper of Pagosa Springs, Harold (Joanne) Gallegos of Del Norte, Johnny (Jenny) Gallegos of Del Norte, Wilfred (Shirley) Gallegos of Del Norte, Jeanice (Joey)

Montoya of Monte Vista, Wilma Gallegos of Colorado Springs, Fredrick (Clara) Gallegos of Ogden, Utah; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

 The family chose cremation. A Rosary service was held on Friday, Sept. 21 at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte, and a memorial service to honor and celebrate Panda’s life was held Saturday, Sept. 22, at the same church.

Arrangements were by Romero Funeral Home and family.

Donations may be sent to Del Norte Bank for the Anthony “Panda” Gallegos Memorial Fund.
