ROSELLA HUNTER HOOD, 76

MONTE VISTA — Rosella Hunter Hood, 76, died June 12, 2012.

She was born July 1, 1935, at her grandmother’s house in Sedalia, Mo., to James and Helen Moore Hunter.

While Rosella was working on her teaching degree, she taught school in Georgetown, M0., and had several teaching jobs prior to moving to Montana. While working as a salesperson at Yellowstone National Park, she met LeRoy Hood, who was a tour bus driver for the park service.

They were married Aug. 10, 1960, in Bozeman, MT, and had a lasting marriage of 50 years.

Rosella and LeRoy moved to California near Moral Bay. After living in California a few years, they moved to Colorado, where Rosella taught school in Creede for two years and then finished her teaching career for 30 years in the Monte Vista School District.

After retirement, she enjoyed spending time substitute teaching, playing Scrabble on her computer, playing games like “Fast Track” with her friends at church, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Rosella spent many hours studying the Word of God for her personal growth in the Lord and to prepare for the many Bible studies she taught.

Her parents; her husband, LeRoy; her daughter, Rosalie; one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Survivors include her brother, C.L. (Naomi) Hunter of Loveland,Colo.; her son, James Hood of Del Norte, Colo.; her daughters, Cheryl (Pat) Shearin, and Cynthia (LaVern Jr.) Hart of Monte Vista; her step-son Phillip (Shaun) Hood of Colbran, Colo.; her stepdaughter Linda (John) Farrell of Carterville, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, June 23, at Calvary Baptist Church in Monte Vista, with the burial at the Colorado State Veterans Center.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the children’s and youth department at Calvary Baptist Church in Monte Vista.

Services were by Strohmayer’s Funeral Home.
