MONTE VISTA — Celina Maria Valdez, 89, Monte Vista died Feb. 23, 2010 at Juniper Village Nursing Home, under Hospice care, surrounded by her loving family.

Celina was born Dec. 13, 1920 in Capulin, Colo. the daughter of Juan Francisco and Rosabel Montoya Valdez. She had many hobbies some of which included gardening and tending to her flowers, being in the outdoors, fishing and knitting.

Celina was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Valdez; sisters, Catalina Atencio, Ida Ortega, Ofelia Gonzales and Ofrecinia Vigil; and one brother, Faustino J. Valdez.

Survivors include her sister, Genevieve (Jose Eleberto) Archuleta; one brother, Raymundo (Sara) Valdez, both of Capulin. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Prayer Service was held on Friday, Feb. 26, at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Monte Vista. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Templo Sion Assembly of God. Burial was in the Workers Union Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Romero Funeral Home in Alamosa.
