MONTE VISTA—The project was first conceived by Deanne Elliot, organizer of the Monte Vista farmers market, and a group of people who support community art. Under the direction of Rob Readmond, a group of students and community members have joined together to paint a mural on the old Super Foods building wall in Monte Vista.

The mural intends to represent community diversity and history and to herald the farmers market which begins on Friday morning, July 18 in the parking lot next to the building.

The concept sketches for the mural were developed during the school year in a middle school mural class. The students and participants met shortly after the school year ended to project their images on the wall, trace them and then paint.

Materials have been donated, but more paint and brushes are needed to complete the project.

The project is ongoing and invites anyone interested to come help paint and/or to donate more materials.
