Facebook hosts voting for Best Western International

MONTE VISTA — Best Western International is asking Facebook members to help select award winners in several categories, worldwide, and the Best Western Movie Manor is among the top five in the Unique Facilities category.

Today, with people all across the nation bemoaning the disappearance of the drive-in movie, the Monte Vista motel is one of a rare group, and owner George Kelloff, Jr. aims to keep it that way.

The drive-in will go digital soon. Last Saturday night was the last film showing at the Star.

No other Best Western is this unique, according to the international chain.

At this, one of the world’s most unique lodging concepts, guests can watch movies on the big screen from the comfort of most rooms from mid-May to mid-September, while enjoying fantastic@ mountain views.

A switch titled “movie,” located on the wall, brings a first-run film with surround sound into the comfort of a well-appointed, comfortable motel room, with easy access to a delicious snack bar, located inside the drive-in, for a favorite movie treat and discover a few new ones, too, and there's a playground for the kids to blow off some steam before the movie begins.

The Best Western Movie Manor is indeed one-of-a-kind, This incredibly unique quality has kept customers putting their faith in the Movie Manor for 48 years.

The Star Drive-In has been in business for even longer — 57 years — and area families treasure loadingtheir kids — and dogs — into the family car and heading for the movies, which are always first-run, family friendly flicks.

"The drive-in is all about freedom," says Kelloff. "There's nothing better than being with the family under the stars, doing something together."

While it’s well-deserved, the Best Western International nomination is no small potatoes in the traditionally agricultural San Luis Valley.

Among the other 400-plus nominees are a castle in Studley, England, a facility in Siem Reap, Cambodia, guestrooms overlooking the scenic Amalfi Coast at the Best Western Hotel Marmorata in Ravello, Italy and the historic BEST WESTERN PLUS Swan Hotel in Wells, Great Britain located next to the Wells Cathedral, to the impressive BEST WESTERN PREMIER Vedic Village Spa Resort which offers five-star luxury across 150 acres of beautiful woodland and waterscapes in West Bengal, India.

All nominations were reviewed by a panel of industry experts, including representatives from TripAdvisor; the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) in the U.S., Canada and Brazil, ARC Europe and the American Automobile Association (AAA) and Canadian Automobile Association (CAA), who reviewed all the hotel entries to select the five finalists in each category.

“Reviewing such an impressive and diverse group of hotels from North America and overseas made choosing finalists for the Best Western Fan Awards quite a challenge,” said Tanya Racz, president of Global Business Travel Association-Canada. “All the finalist hotels are amazing in their own right and I wish the great properties the best of luck, as well. Facebook voters who have a tough decision ahead of them.”

Facebook members can vote for their favorite finalist hotels in each category once a day through Sept.16 on the Best Western Facebook page. Valley folks are encouraged to vote locally. Winners will be announced on Facebook after the voting period ends.

Inside each spacious, comfortable guest accommodation, guests will find all the comforts of home, along with the premium amenities that the Best Western brand is known for.
