Rally roars in on Friday

MONTE VISTA — The 7th annual Rally in the Valley is on the horizon and the deadline looms to buy tickets for two $1,000 drawings and a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic.

Tickets must be bought before the first drawing for $1,000 at 7 p.m. Friday. The winning ticket will remain eligible for the car.

Another drawing will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday and the car will be given away at 9 p.m. State Rep. Ed Vigil will do the honors.

This year, all events are at Ski-Hi Park. Buy tickets at Alibi's Sports Bar and Grill, Absolute Shine or by calling 850-1994. They are $25 for one, three for #60 and five for $100.

Proceeds benefit the Monte Vista Community Fund, which helps or has helped the Monte Vista Kids Connection, the Larry Trujillo Scholarship, the educational fund, the Montez Skate Park, improvements at the Ski-Hi livestock utility building, a sound system at Ski-Hi, holiday festivals, fireworks, the Angels Among Us Toy Drive, the Sgt. Faith Hinkley Memorial and the Adventure Center for special needs kids.

All events at Ski-Hi are open to teh public and there will be special kids' games on Saturday.

This year, the National Guard OCC Chopper will be on display and is a one-of- kind, custom motorcycle.
