MONTE VISTA The city of Monte Vista is considering the creation of a new position Assistant City Manager which would enable the city to be represented when City Manager Don Van Wormer is out of town.
Van Wormer said they had been looking at this possibility, as part of the budget, for some time.
The position would be on an entry level pay scale, Van Wormer said, but in two or three years would be increased to get to the sixties.
The person hired for this position would be able to assume some formal authority in the absence of the city manager, said Van Wormer.
He said they are looking at a time frame of two weeks or a month, to implement the process.
Van Wormer represents the city at the Colorado Municipal League meetings in Denver, and other government-related events.
